NOLA Detox Opens in Slidell to Meet Growing Treatment Need
New Orleans-based recovery center, NOLA Detox, has opened a new 30-bed facility in Slidell, St. Tammany Parish, converting a former physical therapy building off Lindberg Drive into a modern recovery campus.
Founded in 2021 by Chris Copeland and Dan Forman, both in long-term recovery, the Algiers location of NOLA Detox emphasised creating a comfortable, hospitality-focused environment, rather than the “cold, sterile… institutional” feel common in many treatment centers.
The Slidell campus remains true to that vision, offering king-size beds, Roku-ready TVs, catered meals from Copeland’s restaurants, and even warm cookies and milk at bedtime.
The expansion comes at a critical time: St. Tammany Parish recorded 116 overdose deaths in 2023 and 115 in 2024, with 73 deaths so far this year. Inpatient beds have been particularly scarce on the North Shore, and NOLA Detox’s new licensing and partnership with Tulane University School of Medicine aim to fill a vital gap in treatment capacity.
NOLA Detox accepts most major insurance plans and has contracts with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to serve military personnel.
