According to FOX8 News, drug overdoses in Jefferson Parish are still on the rise. Jefferson’s Parish coroner — Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich — projected the number of deaths caused by drug overdose in 2023 to be between 250 and 280, which is slightly higher than those recorded in 2022.

The studies further indicate that Louisiana has an overdose death rate of 28.3 individuals per 100,000 residents, which is 37% above the national average.
