If you are looking for dual diagnosis treatment centers in Louisiana, NOLA Detox and Recovery Center provides several levels of care, including residential programs and outpatient programs as well as specific dual diagnosis treatment options for special populations like veterans.

Many Louisiana residents facing substance use challenges also struggle with mental health disorders. At NOLA Detox and Recovery Center in New Orleans, we provide specialized dual diagnosis programs that start with medication assisted detox and transition to our residential and outpatient programs. With a uniquely supportive framework, our medical team encourages individuals by helping treat both substance use disorders and mental health disorders concurrently, with services and amenities all wrapped in Southern charm.

What Sets Us Apart

With our dual diagnosis treatment centers in Louisiana, clients have access to our unique southern hospitality, our entertainment options, and the natural environment that encourages deep relaxation and reflection.

When clients come to our facility for a residential or outpatient program, they are met with a welcoming environment that combines cutting-edge treatments with transportation services, 24/7 medical and security staff, and services like professional laundry for all client clothing, and an LGBTQ+ friendly environment.

Our campus provides a calm setting with many open spaces and walking trails that lend themselves to relaxation and peaceful reflection.

Moreover, we provide planned activities throughout the week with things like:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Yoga
  • Volleyball
  • Meditation

Every week we offer entertainment in the form of campfires and live music, tabletop games and gaming devices available on campus, and vending machines for additional snacks in between meal times.

Our 8 acre campus provides a relaxing setting with open spaces and walking trails, something that can help lower stress and minimize symptoms of anxiety. The spacious, park-like campus helps our patients literally breathe in relief and utilize mindfulness practices outdoors. The natural backdrop creates a physical buffer from any triggers that might come from other parts of New Orleans, especially triggers involving busy traffic, or local bars.

This natural environment encourages better emotional grounding and deeper reflection during the recovery process.

What to Expect During Our Dual Diagnosis Program

With NOLA Detox, our dual diagnosis program targets the intertwined relationship between mental health and substance use.

When you reach out to our team, you can expect an initial psychiatric and medical assessment to help you identify the areas where you most need help. This also helps our medical team decide on the best level of care and treatment options, including things like trauma-informed therapy for those clients with underlying trauma or PTSD, wellness activities like yoga or meditation for anxiety or depression, and other peer support groups.

Our programs, whether residential or outpatient, teach clients through different evidence-based therapies and holistic programs to develop specialized coping mechanisms, ways to manage symptoms of mental health disorders or triggers without resorting to drugs and alcohol.

Our Specialized Services

At NOLA Detox and Recovery Center, our goal is to optimize client success and reduce the discomfort or anxiety surrounding starting a new program while also aiming to remove the barriers that might prevent clients from getting the treatment they need.

Given the overlap between substance use and mental health disorders, our clinical staff at NOLA Detox works hard to incorporate things like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients identify harmful behavior patterns, improve emotional regulation, and build healthy distress tolerance strategies. We also incorporate trauma-informed care for PTSD or trauma, including  specialized modalities like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In addition to the therapies that we use, our facility offers many specialized services and amenities that improve the clients recovery experience.

For example, we know that there are many geographic challenges across Louisiana which is why we provide completely free transportation services to nearby areas like Metairie, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette. We also make sure that clients who participate in our residential program receive three healthy meals per day from local New Orleans restaurants including Copelands alongside professional laundry services to reduce the stress of having to make food and wash clothes.

We structure our amenities to provide physical stability during early residential treatment and autonomy in our outpatient program.

Those who participate in our residential program for dual diagnosis care can enjoy hotel-like comforts, including queen-sized beds, private bathrooms, in-room cable TVs, and high-speed WiFi. Clients also have access to community phones to stay in touch with work or family.

We offer meal times and provide three meals per day. But we know how important comfort food is to the recovery process, which is why we have fresh Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and hot New Orleans Roast Coffee daily.

We aim to keep everyone connected during recovery with our weekly community-building events like crawfish boils, pizza nights, and outdoor picnics too.

With our other levels of care, we focus more on building independence and offering access to on-site entertainment and health amenities, such as gaming, tabletop games, and volleyball games. Our holistic wellness classes include yoga and meditation, available in every level of care.
