Getting from Lafayette to NOLA Detox
Traveling from Lafayette to our New Orleans Residential Campus is a straight drive across southern Louisiana spanning approximately 135 miles, which takes about 2 hours to 2 hours and 15 minutes depending on traffic.
To drive from Lafayette, locate and head east on I-10 East out of the city. You will stay on I-10 East for the vast majority of the trip, crossing over the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge and passing through Baton Rouge. As you enter the Greater New Orleans area, continue following I-10 East across the Crescent City Connection bridge, and then use the right lanes to take the exit for US-90 Business West/Westbank. From there, take the exit toward General De Gaulle Drive, merge onto the main roadway, and make a left turn onto Woodland Drive where the residential campus is situated at 4201 Woodland Drive, New Orleans, LA 70131.
To get to our new retreat in Slidell though, you have approximately the same drive but there are options like the Greyhound bus and Amtrak that can get you there in around half a day. This, though, can feel like a lifetime when you are desperate for help which is why our team provides complimentary transportation services directly to our campus even for those who might be far outside our local area, to make it possible to start your detox and residential program right away.

Elite Clinical Standards
Our roots run deep in local excellence as an official training facility for Tulane Medicine. This partnership means our clinical practices are shaped by the sharpest medical minds right here in the Crescent City. We aren’t just following standard programming; we are actively training the next generation of top-tier professionals using cutting-edge medical research, bringing elite care straight to our neighborhood.

Local New Orleans Recovery Support
When clients get ready to leave our facility, after participating in a full year of the continuum of care we offer or selecting one of our programs, returning to Lafayette can be a bit jarring.
We understand how important it is to connect with local resources and that is why we partner with organizations across the community, different religious affiliations, 12-step programs, and other recovery tools that allow clients to receive ongoing outpatient support back in Lafayette.
12-Step Support
A successful treatment plan relies heavily on building a secure network of external accountability, a network of people that our clients can rely on once they leave our facility.
For clients stepping down to lower intensities of care, our team works hard to prepare them with an Aftercare plan that includes a welcoming network of traditional 12-step programs in the greater New Orleans area. Clients can easily connect with prominent local fellowships, such as the All Saints Church Fellowship Hall group right in Algiers, or travel slightly across the river to the highly active Camel Club in Gretna.
For those tracking unique sub-demographics, the New Orleans Lambda Center on St. Claude Avenue hosts multiple open Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) discussion groups catering directly to LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
SMART Recovery
For our clients who prefer an alternative to 12 steps, there are other opportunities that can help clients transition into a highly supportive secular recovery space.
There are, for example, dedicated, weekly in-person SMART Recovery Meetings on Saturdays, focusing heavily on self-empowering behavioral tools, cognitive reframing, and urge management rather than spiritual steps.
Additionally, for younger clients or those balancing continuing education, the Tulane Recovery Community Center on Calhoun Street hosts specialized “Recovery 101” newcomer meetings alongside a robust network of Recovery Dharma Buddhist-inspired peer groups. By actively introducing clients to these diverse local community resources during their intensive outpatient phase, we ensure every client builds a personalized, foolproof support team capable of safeguarding their sobriety out in the real world.
